In January of this year Real Energy Solutions celebrated with the City of Portland Water Bureau by ‘flipping of the switch’ for the 267kW ground mount system. The system will augment the power used at the Portland’s groundwater supply source, the Columbia South Shore Well Field. The 1,274 panels will offset 10% of the energy used at the site, the Water Bureau’s largest energy consumer. The celebration had a great turn out, even the sun showed up for awhile. Commissioner Leonard flipped the switch turning the system on and excitedly remarked “I can hear it buzzing!” From inception to completion this project took a little over two years to develop. “Like raising a child, doing a third party financed solar installation takes a village!” Sandra Walden, President of Real Energy Solutions started her speech before recognizing the many partners and parties involved. Real Energy Solutions as developer worked closely with Bonneville Environmental Foundation Renewable Inc., Sentry Financial, EC Electrical Company, PGE, Energy Trust of Oregon, Oregon Department of Energy and the City of Portland.
